Lauren McVey - Hospital Director
Lauren McVey is originally from Massachusetts and has her undergraduate degree in English Education from Ithaca College, as well as a Masters in Literacy Education from UW-Madison. During her time in Ithaca, Lauren volunteered at the Tompkins County Humane Society. Shortly after moving to Madison, she worked at a local doggie-daycare and boarding facility, where she learned a lot about canine behavior and training modification techniques. She is also certified with the American Red Cross in Pet First Aid and CPR.
Lauren’s passion for working both with people and with animals led her to join the Exceptional Care for Animals as a receptionist in the Spring of 2008. Her background in education helps her communicate effectively with both clients and staff, and she loves having the opportunity to use her education to help pets and their people. R ecently, Lauren has been promoted from receptionist to Hospital Director, and is loving every minute of this challenging new position. She describes the job as “a wonderful chaos” and an opportunity like no other.
Lauren shares her house with her golden retriever, Cody, her Holland lop rabbit named Leo, a parakeet named Pickles, and a bearded dragon named Stuart that she recently adopted from ECA.
