“The Exceptional life depends not on working harder, but on different, even opposite, actions from habit and the crowd.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

We have changed our name.

After a 25-plus year run, some of our partners were ready to retire from owning and managing the Emergency Clinic for Animals and there was a well spring of interest from devoted staff members to continue the operation.  This became an opportunity to ask and answer questions about our goals.

We reaffirmed our mission statement:

  1. To be always available, always caring and always ready
  2. To always place the patient’s interest first and foremost
  3. To be sure every aspect of the hospital operation
accounts for #1 and #2.  This means building the
practice from the patient on up, rather than the
historical and traditional routine of designing a
    business plan first.
  4. To find each and every way to provide Exceptional care
  5. To find and develop Exceptional caregivers
    And
  6. To be as cost effective as possible while doing so.

This led to the philosophy and the new name: Exceptional Care for Animals.

It helped us to decide to close our satellite clinic in Sun Prairie and focus our staff and our resources in one location.  This increases the chances that at any one time, a very experienced and ready staff is always available.  It also decreases operating costs which allow us to minimize price increases.

We have spent the last months developing many new ideas and improving many things already in place.  We were fortunate to be able to hire and retain an exceptional Hospital Director, Lauren, to help in all of these endeavors.  She will be the first to admit it is a wonderful chaos and an opportunity like few others.

We have reaffirmed our partnership with Dane County Humane Society.  Not only does it mean we will continue to provide food, shelter, pain relief and medical care to strays, orphans and wildlife, but we will continue to support their mission in any and all other ways.  Not least of which are informational sections on the Pet Page of channel3000.com, including an Ask the Vet column.

Dr. Koeppl, offered the chance to step back and retire, instead affirmed his dedication to both his partners and his staff.  All of them have pledged to be Exceptional.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, and it seems so applicable: “The Exceptional life depends not on working harder, but on different, even opposite, actions from habit and the crowd.”  He didn’t know it then, but he was speaking directly to us.

So, Welcome to ECA 2.0.  We aim to please.  We aim to provide Exceptional Care for Animals, and also for their people.
